“The greatest success is successful self-acceptance.”
~ Ben Sweet

Where Dreams Reside

This month is where the rubber meets the road. Where your fears meet your dreams. This is the place where you become aware of how you sabotage yourself- especially when it comes to reaching for your dreams. And, with that awareness, you can reach through anyway- and go far beyond. Trust in the knowing that you can stretch beyond the limits you had set for yourself.

Do you suffer from “when-then” syndrome? This is a consistent theme that has been showing up in many places. In my work, I have met many people who live their lives on hold. There is the woman who says, when I lose weight; then I can begin dating again. Or, there is the musician who believes, when I find 20 minutes to practice my new song; then I can perform it because it will be perfect.   Guess what? That 20 minutes remains elusive, or the weight never seems to come off.

Life is constantly calling us out on our stuff. We can either own it or continue to turn away. Move beyond your fears by sitting in them and accepting them. It is by doing this that you gain understanding. After all, to accept oneself is love more fully…and, the truth is that LOVE is what it’s all about.

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.” ~ Melody Beattie

Conscious Eating- Mindful Ways to Navigate the Holiday Season

“Be one with the food”…that is what I always tell my children, when they are shoveling their dinner.  Conscious eating is about  being completely aware of the act of eating. It is not the shoveling or mindless stuffing of one’s face.  When we are fully engaged in the process of eating- we can deeply experience the tastes, sensations, and aromas.  When you bring a Conscious Eating habit to your life; you’ll be kinder to your digestive system and you won’t overeat.  You’ll be in tune with your body and stop when full.  If you aren’t ready to make the whole transformation of your eating habits, then try it with a snack or  a light meal.  Food can become a spiritual experience, when it is approached from a mindful perspective.

I had plans.... glorious plans...

Then I experienced the cosmic 2x4. That's my term for a course correction in life.

For me, it was a freaky fall, landing on my elbow, bruising a few ribs has set my plans on hold for now.

To be truthful, I've had some  'why me?' moments where I question the higher purpose.  I've questioned what I could have done differently. Yet, the answer I get is "shit happens" and sometimes we don't know the higher purpose.
