5 Steps to Live More Fully From Your Heart

Living an Authentic Life

 
As my favorite yoga teacher says, “lead from the heart”- meaning
Put your heart forth into every pose- and open to your divine within.
 
What does this mean in the life off the mat?  How do we lead from the heart and truly embrace our lives? 
 
For me, it means following my inner guidance- every step of the way.  It means stopping in the moment and asking myself how I feel.  If it feels good, I move forward- even if my head is telling me that it makes no sense.  If it doesn’t feel right or feels heavy (doing stuff out of guilt feels this way) then, I choose to do something different.  Having said that, sometimes there are things that we have to do (like attend a meeting for work, confront someone, fold laundry); and these are the things that we need to come into acceptance about- and thus make them fit into our lives.   When you are faced with something to do out of necessity, but it is not something that you really want to do- come into a state of acceptance and things will flow easier.  This is not the same as resignation, nor obligation; but attending to it in the very present moment- and shining the full light of consciousness upon it- will change the energy of any situation. 
 
Another way to be more authentic is to own your power and to create healthy boundaries.  When you explain to others that you are caring for yourself- you put up a boundary- that ultimately will serve to teach others how to care for themselves.  For what good are you if you are not taking care of YOU?
 
Follow your emotions.  Simply put- allow yourself to feel sadness, despair, fear, joy, laughter, all in the moment you feel them welling up inside.  Don’t fight them or try to resist.  And, don’t attach to them wondering why you feel this way.  Allow them to be part of your experience in the moment- and know that this too shall pass.  This is the way you become fuller in your expression of your true Divine nature and allow your essence to shine through.  Don’t fight the thoughts, allow them to be there- but don’t get stuck in them. 
 
Living more consciously means becoming aware of the world around you and fully waking up within the illusion.  It means noticing when you act from unconsciousness and noticing when you act from awareness.  Practice breath awareness at many times through the day and sense your aliveness from the inside.  Feel your connection- to all that is! 
 
Take a break from the daily mind-grind and do yourself a favor.  Next time you find yourself writing a “To Do” list, try writing a “To Be” list- and maybe it will look something like this:
 
 
 
To Be:
 
-Be fully focused on the person you are having a conversation with
and feel a heart to heart connection
-Be out in nature for as much of the day as possible
-Be aware of your breath at many times during the day
-Be mindful of your eating
-Be in JOY and see the humor in all situations
-Be out of your head and into your heart
-Be really polite in traffic
-Be conscious in your every day activities
-Be loving to yourself and give yourself that which
makes your heart soar
-Be creative (sing, dance, draw, paint, write, etc)
-Be fully in your own Power
-Be forgiving
-Be peaceful
-Be non-reactive to situations
-Be the embodiment of Spirit on Earth
 
 
That is our task on the earth at this time- breathe in the full light
Of Divine Wisdom- see and feel it circulating within your
body.

I had plans.... glorious plans...

Then I experienced the cosmic 2x4. That's my term for a course correction in life.

For me, it was a freaky fall, landing on my elbow, bruising a few ribs has set my plans on hold for now.

To be truthful, I've had some  'why me?' moments where I question the higher purpose.  I've questioned what I could have done differently. Yet, the answer I get is "shit happens" and sometimes we don't know the higher purpose.
