Calmness of the Mind

“Calmness of the mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom.”

~James Allen

Calmness of the Mind

Calmness of the Mind.  What is the currency in your spiritual bank account?  By adding consciousness, calmness and integrity- you build a fortune in the richness of your soul.

In spiritual terms, this calmness helps to channel the life force energy into positive and productive use.   When we flow with the beingness of life- we instill a deep sense of calm that runs very deep. This will help to override the chatter of the brain and the busy-ness of the body.

Pause for a moment.  Feel the current of energy as it courses through your body.  Ask yourself these questions:

How calm is your mind?

How often do you find yourself ruminating over different events in your life, and how do you break the cycle?

What does calmness of the mind feel like?

Certainly, by now- we know the benefits of mindfulness and meditation but how often do we put these things off until a future event?

How often do you forego a walk in nature, play with your kids or a sit down with a cup of tea and a chat with a friend because you are too busy?  In financial terms we speak of preservation of capital.  Well, how is it that you preserve your life force energy and keep it flowing and moving?  It is when we are stuck and determined to keep running on empty that depletes us even more.  Honor your body and your needs in any given moment.  Even if it learning how to say no, or to say “this is what I need for me, right now.”  The more people are willing to stand up for what is right, what is fair, and what is balanced will help to tip the scales in a more favorable direction.  Make your choice to be more conscious in everyday life- and be witness to the process.  Stand up for what you believe and speak up for what is good and fair to all parties.  Choose to speak with your money by purchasing products that help the greater good, are handmade or are mindfully produced and are meaningful.  Enjoy the treasures and the jewels within.

Here’s to a more balanced life and a calmer mind!

Thanks for this reminder, Cathy.

When I listen to my needs, my energy is restored and I feel balanced and refreshed, ready to handle life outside of myself again.

I need to do it more consistently!

A recent talk at a local library-(see picture) led me to a fascinating discovery:

Humans are an interesting bunch.

Most of us spend many hours, many days and many years in thinking mode.

We think of what has happened to us, or what will happen.

The human brain ruminates, plots, plans, worries, and dreams up many “what if” scenarios.

Wouldn’t you like to get to a point where you are running the show of what your brain thinks about?

What if you were able to take a big step back from the mind chatter and to sort out what is important and what is distraction?  How would you feel about being able to make decisions from a clear and calm center?

What a ride 2018 has been.

I don't know about you, but for me personally- it was one helluva _________ (insert your own imaginative word here)

Do you remember that carnival ride- the one that you sat strapped in- it flung you around, up and down and spun you around? I think it was called a "Tilt-A-Whirl"

That's what 2018  felt like for me.

Conscious Eating- Mindful Ways to Navigate the Holiday Season

“Be one with the food”…that is what I always tell my children, when they are shoveling their dinner.  Conscious eating is about  being completely aware of the act of eating. It is not the shoveling or mindless stuffing of one’s face.  When we are fully engaged in the process of eating- we can deeply experience the tastes, sensations, and aromas.  When you bring a Conscious Eating habit to your life; you’ll be kinder to your digestive system and you won’t overeat.  You’ll be in tune with your body and stop when full.  If you aren’t ready to make the whole transformation of your eating habits, then try it with a snack or  a light meal.  Food can become a spiritual experience, when it is approached from a mindful perspective.
